Payroll Manager

Responsible for:

  • The Line Management of the finance clerks or payroll assistants working within payroll.
  • Calculation and payment to the relevant bodies of any deductions made through payroll under the Pay As You Earn scheme (PAYE) this will include tax, National Insurance and pension deductions.
  • Implementation of any nationally agreed pay awards.
  • Monitoring of the value of the pay run to ensure with the Financial Accountant that there is enough cash in the bank on the day to make the payments.
  • Maintenance of the payroll system and the interface into the general ledger system.
  • Writing of any reports required by the organisation, such as gender pay gap, staff in post list for budget setting etc
