Working within an NHS trust or integrated care board, as a Head of a specific area of finance, you’ll have responsibility for the financial leadership of that specific area. This could be across a number of NHS organisations rather than just one organisation and will involve ensuring that all statutory financial requirements are met.
There are also opportunities to work in finance in non-managerial roles, or roles with limited Line Manager requirements, as a subject expert. A Head of Costing is an example where you can attain a senior level within the organisation, with a small team reporting into you.
